During these days of staying absolutely put, an 18-hour pant feels like a godsend. This roundup of travel pants also doubles as perfect stay-home companion pants. You can sleep in them, stretch in them, and wear them for your Zoom presentations.

As a chronic over-packer and frequent shopper, I long ago realized the perfect travel pant — a piece that could carry you through even the longest haul flight and look good enough to wear upon landing — was a figment of the imagination. Leggings don’t cut it, and any pant with a zipper or a button is guaranteed to drive you crazy five hours into a flight.

Apparently, I’m not alone in this issue. A new crop of pants have hit the market and measure up in terms of chicness and comfort. These make the cut.

American Giant’s The Pant

While they may look like leggings, the thick material tricks the world into thinking they’re something far dressier. So confident that you will become obsessed upon first wear, the brand has dubbed them simply, The Pant. A hybrid that will take you from yoga to travel to sleep, these are what packing dreams are made of. Unlike most legging-type pants, these come in regular and tall lengths. ($78)

RedThread’s Essential Ankle Pant

Forgoing standard sizes, each pair is custom-made to your specific measurements, made from photos you take on your phone and questions you answer about preferred fit and length. Made from a cotton-ponté blend that’s smooth enough against the skin to wear for hours at a time, the pants also have a tailored look, with elongated seams and an elevated ankle slit detail. ($128)

Époque Évolution’s Jet Set Trouser

It might be more than you’re used to paying for something so comfortable, but these pants are worth the consideration. In a nutshell, they're the perfect black pants: comfortable enough for a long-haul flight and stylish enough to hit the town when you land. To be clear: You can sleep in these pants and wear them upon arrival all day. The Jet Set Trouser looks like it belongs in first class, but is thoroughly down-to-earth, with an elastic waistband and a bar-tack hem for homemade length adjustments (i.e., no tailor required). Also! The pants are machine-washable. This is the chicest pair of pants I own, and I’ll be wearing them until further notice … at home and abroad. ($228)

Summersalt’s Everywhere Legging-Pant

The cult favorite swimwear brand’s new lines of travel, resort, and loungewear are something to be admired. But the most simple piece, the Everywhere Legging-Pant, is our all-around favorite for travel. With faux back pockets and zippers on either side of the ankle, they are truly for everywhere and look as stylish with flats as they do with hiking boots. Lightweight and insanely comfortable, the leggings somehow feel more like sweatpants. ($80)

ADAY’s Turn It Up Pant

ADAY put itself on the map with their collection of minimalist-chic, exceptionally practical pieces. Classic and streamlined, the Turn It Up Pant combines the look of a tailored trouser with the ease of sweatpants. With their ever-so-slightly sculptural, next-century design, the pants elevate basic journeys into stylish rites of passage. ($135)

Paskho’s Harmonious Travel Pant

Paskho combines the utility of hiking pants with the style of skinny jeans. The unusual cut and design make not only for a perfect fit but also for a functional piece sturdy enough for a trek on the Tour du Mont Blanc and fashionable enough for the City of Lights. What’s more, all Paskho products are blue-design approved, meaning every fabric is checked to ensure it's as environmentally friendly as possible. ($148)
