Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita
Riviera Nayarit, Mexico
Beach Bliss Bubble, $$

Along Mexico's Riviera Nayarit, jungle-covered mountains converge on 200 miles of a Pacific coastline peppered with upscale resorts, budget-friendly beach towns, and traditional fishing villages. The soon-to-be open Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita (40 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta Airport and 15 minutes from Punta de Mita) takes its cues from the setting, starting with a soaring lobby that frames a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. From here on out, the beach is always top of mind. The resort lays out breezy, open-air spaces, natural materials, meandering pathways, tropical landscaping, and soft white sand to keep an easygoing mood.

You won't necessarily feel like you are in Mexico, but you will definitely feel like you are on vacation. This is polished resort escapism that won’t break the bank. There's plenty of room to spread out, plenty to do together, and enough ways to sneak off for a little alone time. When winter has everyone pining for a beach escape, this is the resort to drop into the group chat.

It's taking bookings now for 2027.

At a Glance

The Vibe: Peak resort mode.

Standout Detail: One of the best looking Omnis we’ve seen. The design is contemporary and clean with a few nice nods to Mexican folk art (upholstered fabrics, wall paintings), and the landscaping feels layered and lush — not just palm trees but wispy fronds and low-lying tropical ferns and flowers, like purple bougainvillea spilling over thatched roofs.

This Place Is Great For: Destination weddings, group gatherings, and multi-generational family vacations.

Rooms: The contemporary interiors in 202 rooms and 42 suites (some with plunge pools) combine earthy materials in soothing tones.

Food + Drink: There are five dining experiences. Periiku offers coffee and handmade ice cream; Alberca Bar & Grill has pool fare and day drinks; Zuravé does beachside seafood dining; Esmeralda is an all-day eating spot; and Tatei showcases modern interpretations of regional dishes.

On Site: Swimmable sand beach, indoor and outdoor fitness studio, five swimming pools (including a kids splash pad and one for adults), a dedicated kids club, beach games and activities, and access to ocean and land adventures. The spa village has 14 rooms and a secluded infinity-edge pool overlooking the ocean. With a huge event lawn, shaded pavilion, and light-filled ballroom, this place can host all kinds of occasions, from reunions to weddings to company off-sites.

What to Do Nearby

Take your time enjoying the local surf culture, fishing, whale watching (December through March), and marine life. On land, there are horseback riding trails, ATV adventures, and ziplines through the jungle. Day trips to Sayulita and San Pancho are a must.
