Keeping Haiti in Mind

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – Professional photographer Emily Winiker never thought twice about Haiti — until she came across evidence of a friend's volunteer trip on Facebook.

After a little research, she was on a plane with English in Mind Institute, an organization that teaches English to Hatian adults in an effort to increase employment.

The ten-day volunteer trip took place at a school in Port-au-Prince. Emily helped with adult English classes, played with children at a local orphanage, and took in the breathtaking mountains looming over the island, documenting her experience along the way.
