The NOTED App Co-Founder's Favorite London Spots
We write travel recommendations on the back of napkins, fill up journals with future itineraries, and have piles of business cards on our nightstands. Yes, we're guilty of a little disorganized dreaming. Good thing NOTED app co-founder Tiffany Winter got in touch. Born in Oxford and raised in London, Tiffany and her Swiss boyfriend Oli created NOTED as a way to organize notes about places to eat, play, and stay. Now a New Yorker, Tiffany travels to London on a bi-monthly basis to revisit the classics and get to know the new kids on the block. She shared some of her #noted spots with us.
EAT
Caravan
Granary Building, 1 Granary Sq., Kings Cross; +44-20-7101-7661
One of my favourite brunch spots. The restaurant is an old grain store — a very cool location. I love anything with avocado, so their avocado on toast is a must. I follow that with smoked haddock and leek rarebit.
Stories
30 Broadway Market; +44-20-7254-6898
Go on a Sunday for a roast in a roll and walk it off in London Fields park. Notice the attractive Hackney crowd.
Dean Street Townhouse
69-71 Dean St., Soho; +44-20-7434-1775
Part of the Soho House family, this place is beautifully decorated in a very British style. I love coming here with the girls for Saturday afternoon tea. The crumpets come with generous amounts of butter and raspberry jam. Heaven.
STAY
Charlotte Street Hotel
15-17 Charlotte St., Bloomsbury; +44-20-7806-2000
Since I have family in London, I don't need to stay in a hotel, but I love visiting this one. There's a long bar that's perfect for a glass of Champagne after a day of shopping on Charlotte Street (one of my favorites). Book Roka for dinner just down the road.
PLAY
Sager and Wilde
193 Hackney Rd., Hackney; no phone.
An excellent wine bar. Great after-dinner spot. Make sure you save some room so you can enjoy one of their delicious cheese plates.
Liberty
208-222 Regent St.; +44 20 7734 1234
A London institution. The distinctive beamed shop front sits in the heart of Soho. Spend a couple of hours walking through the various sections, and don't forget to walk through the stationery department on the first floor. Everyone should own a beautiful writing set.
Columbia Road Flower Market
Columbia Rd.; +44 20 7613 0876
Head over for a walk on a Saturday morning — stroll the chaotic flower market amid the loud cries of market sellers. Weave in and out of the stalls and pop into the vintage furniture and clothes shops along the way — Future Vintage and Vintage Heaven are two of my favorites.
