What's New in the Hamptons This Summer: 2018

Pack your towel and bathing suit and book your seat on the Jitney: Summer is imminent. And although the weather might disagree, it's high time you made your Hamptons and North Fork plans. Here's what's new and excellent on the East End this season.

Southampton

Serving up French Provence cuisine, Maison Vivienne (136 Main St.) is set to open on Memorial Day weekend with chef Florian V. Hugo (who worked under Paul Bocuse and Alain Ducasse). Part of a larger opening of a new inn with the same name by Svitlana Flom, Tessa Flom, and Allan Basaran, the restaurant features a herb and vegetable garden and a landscaped outdoor terrace.

Don't forget to pack your best polo for the 2018 U.S. Open Championship at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. From June 11-17, golf's elite will be taking over in Southampton.

Back for the 2018 summer season, Latch Pop-Up Inn is the luxury accommodation option in Southampton Village. The charming, rustic former historic Village Latch Inn hides refreshingly simple suites and cabanas for a relaxing getaway.

It's easier than ever to bring signature Hampton style back to the city, with the One Kings Lane store now open seven days a week and fully stocked with new pieces in a former 19th-century library.

Pack a little lighter than usual for a good excuse to visit the newest Michelle Farmer Collaborate boutique on Jobs Lane. Alongside the label's own fashions will be a curated collection of international labels.

New York City's quick-serve, twelve-piece omasake experience, Sushi by Bou, is headed seaside for a summer pop-up. Accompanied by plenty of sake, upscale Southampton's Chinese restaurant Jue Lan Club (138 Elm St.) restaurant will host the sashimi experts on their patio until September.

Water Mill

Chef-owner Jon Albrecht is bringing Italian staples to Water Mill with Culaccino, slated for a mid-June opening. Expect comforting seafood classics and new specialties like a wild boar chop, and an outdoor patio and bar to make the most of the summer.

Bridgehampton/Sagaponack

Opening in mid-June, L&W Market will offer a specialty grocery store in Bridgehampton as an offshoot of Almond restaurant. Some of Almond's favorites will be available to grab and go, alongside picnic basket staples.

Bridgehampton is the new intersection of fitness and fashion thanks to Carbon 38's pop-up shop. Join them May 26 for the grand opening party, co-hosted by Hamptons Magazine, for an afternoon of shopping and rosé tasting.

Sag Harbor

With a renewed commitment to the art of Japanese cooking, Sen reopens mid-June with an expanded cocktail lounge and sake bar featuring both imports and Brooklyn-made Kura sake on tap. All the old sashimi favorites are back, but after studying traditional crafts, the restaurant is also offering housemade Japanese buckwheat soba noodles. A new late-night bites menu will feature ramen bowls and steamed buns.

Joining Main Street from Memorial Day weekend, Faherty will bring their beachy fashion to a Sag Harbor boutique to keep the Hamptons stylish this season. Expect plenty of indigo and block prints.

After the success of the Goop 2017 summer pop-up in Amagansett, Gwyneth Paltrow's boutique takes up a summer residency in Sag Harbor with their usual collection of healthy lifestyle must-haves.

Wainscott

Il Mulino is bringing its minimalist Italian fare from the city to the sea — and will stay open year round if its first season goes well. If you can't get a reservation, pick up their range of prepared food and sauces to take home.

East Hampton

Returning for its second season at Spring Close House is World's Best Restaurant Eleven Madison Park. The pop-up EMP Summer House consists of a more formal indoor venue and more casual picnic table’d backyard with games like cornhole, pétanque, and ping pong.

Following a yearlong hiatus, crowd favorite Moby's returns with a new waterfront location at East Hampton Point. The Australian restaurateur duo recommitted to a nautical vision, with a new dockside space complementing the restaurant's signature coastal Italian menu and nautical vibes.

Lifestyle brand and shop The Interior brings its minimalist style to a new home on Main Street in time for Memorial Day weekend. Expect a furniture line collaboration with designer Amee Allsop, an art show from Brooklyn designer Jessica Sanders, and lots of new international brands for a more refined feel.

Luxury lifestyle brand AERIN opens a second Hamptons boutique featuring house label collection items and pieces from Aerin Lauder's favorite brands, including home decor, beauty, fashion, accessories, and travel products.

An '80s icon is back: The sons of the original owner have opened The Quiet Clam 2.0, satisfy all seafood-centric needs at lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch year-round.

Montauk

Brooklyn meets Hamptons for one weekend, as Williamsburg's Freehold takes over Ruschmeyer's for a Memorial Day Weekend brunch. This clash of the titans will kick off a summer-long program of events that includes Drunk Yoga and a host of (real) fitness classes from various NYC wellness studios every weekend.

Boutique motel Breakers will launch All Day at Breakers over the Memorial Day Weekend. The casual dining option with indoor and outdoor seating, poolside service, and full bar will serve breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch, afternoon and evening bites, and a decent drinks list — more than living up to its name.

Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa has gone all out for the summer season. Full-service salon OUAISPACE will bring celeb hairstylist Jen Atkin into the fold, and the Beach Club will relaunch following a facelift, allowing the Gurney's Fashion Collective to hold its pop-up series beachside for the first time.

Fresh, local seafood, no-frill favorites, and a raw bar highlighting local Montauk Pearl Oysters and clams are in store at Montauk's newest family run eatery Hooked. Get it to go or grab a beachside picnic table.

Shelter Island

Popular Italian eatery Caci North Folk is opening a second location on Shelter Island that mirrors the original. Both the menu and award-winning wine list from the original location will be replicated, but the new Shelter Island Caci will also offer an American breakfast menu with Italian accents.

The North Fork

A turn-of-the-century historical home in downtown Riverhead is the setting for new Preston House, a 20-room boutique hotel with New American dining. Original features alongside graffiti walls gives the design hotel Long Island-meets-Manhattan vibes.

Get classic American fare poolside at Sound View's reiteration of Jack's Shack. Designed by Brooklyn-based Studio Tack, Jack Levain's iconic 1930s beach snack shack is reborn as a casual dining option for pool dwellers who are unwilling to change out of their swimsuits. After a day poolside, the Sound View's piano bar will also host live musical performances in partnership with Joe's Pub at The Public and Sid's Gold Request Room. Gather round the baby grand to hear music from emerging artists and piano bar karaoke.

Visit Barba Bianca to experience the new all-vegetarian menu on Monday nights, when the Italian restaurant showcases produce from local farmers and fishermen.

Cheese, wine, beer, and art come together at Kate's Cheese Company in Greenport. Enjoy an in-house charcuterie board or get it to go: The cozy retailer stocks everything local and gourmet that should be on your next grazing table.

Popular breakfast and lunch spot Simply Sublime opens a new organic market in Cutchogue with an abbreviated version of their East Hampton menu, including açai bowls, fresh-pressed juices, smoothies, and organic coffee.

Cutchogue is also set to be the home of Suhru Wines' new tasting room, providing an opportunity to taste crisp whites and light tannic reds from Australian-born winemaker Russell Hearn.

Local duo Antonio and Stephanie Piraino are bringing a new farm country-inspired eatery to Mattituck. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, EAsT on Main (10560 Main Rd.) is set to be a casual dining option on the North Fork, serving orange blossom pancakes, a build-your-own-burger bar, and house-made fried Twinkies and whoopie pie.
