What It's Like Inside the Apple Store for Weed

It's happening. Recreational marijuana is now legal in the state of California, which means that visits to the dispensary are no longer something 420-friendly travelers have to make their friends with medical cards do for them. Anyone so inclined can just walk into a dispensary by showing valid ID from any state or a passport from another country.

Curious about cannabis? Local dispensaries are upping the ante with high-quality products, packaging, and public education. In southern California, MedMen has been drumming up buzz for its streamlined approach to selling. There's nothing shady here. The state-of-the-art dispensary is decked out in iPads that help customers learn about top-shelf smokables, vapables, edibles, and topicals. There are even “geniuses” clad in red ready to answer any and all questions. (Sound familiar?)

The sleek operation caught the attention of filmmaker Karina Palmer , who fell in love with the shop after discovering it on a walk through West Hollywood (there are additional outposts elsewhere in LA, as well as Orange County, San Diego, Las Vegas, and New York). She took out her camera to give us a tour.
