Things We're Loving — Vol. 7

A number of amazing travel goods come across our desks each day — and that number multiplies quickly when you count all of the awesome things we encounter on Instagram and the worldwide web. Here are few of the items Team Fathom is lusting after, including a Tokyo-based literary journal and an easy way to transport yourself to New Orleans.
Feast
I'm a little obsessed with cookbooks these days, especially the ones that go so much deeper than "this is how you cook a chicken." Two friends, authors Lindsay Anderson and Dana VanVeller, spent five months on an epic road trip across the Great White North. The end product is a book packed with more than a hundred Canadian recipes (who knew there were that many?) and personal stories. ($18) – Becky, assistant editor
Bembien Rose Bag
It may not feel like spring in New York City, but that's not stopping me from thinking about the warm weather to come (and all the new clothes I want to buy). Top of my list: Bembien's handwoven rattan bag. Made by artisans around the world, 10% of proceeds from the circular bag go to Nest, a nonprofit committed to social and economic advancement of global artisans. ($185) – Berit, editor
The SANS Bottle
This new reusable bottle is so genius. It uses a vacuum pump mechanism to suck remaining air out of the bottle, keeping smoothies and juices fresh for much longer. Finally, I can bring juices with me on the road! ($30) – Kim, editorial assistant
Koinobori Travel Laundry Bag
I already have one of these cute Japanese wind socks, but the poor thing gets no air hanging in the middle of my stuffy railroad apartment. The next time around, I’m getting one that doubles as a travel-friendly laundry bag. It's bound to see more action that way. ($28) – Daniel, editorial assistant
Hinoki Bath Bucket
A recent bathroom renovation got me thinking about the superior bathing rituals of the Japanese (of course). Maybe a small hinoki bath stool and bucket could turn my morning shower into a daily onsen ritual? The wood is prized for its antibacterial nature and fresh aroma. ($70) – Jeralyn, editorial director
Sam Edelman Loafers
On a recent trip to Havana, I made the fatal! stupid! amateur! mistake of packing uncomfortable shoes. Heels on old cobblestones: What was I thinking? I wish I had packed this adorable pair of flats instead. ($120) – Pavia, CEO
Cáfe du Monde Beignet Mix
We recently started a new tradition in my house. When we have reason to celebrate, we make beignets. The powdered sugar-covered doughnuts are a favorite in New Orleans; I do my best to recreate the experience with the help of Cafe du Monde's beignet mix and chicory-flavored coffee. Paired with a frothy cafe au lait, the puffy squares are totally worth the time and mess. ($8) – Berit
Étui II Wallet
The Atelier YUL first started making bags for creatives to transport large-format documents like blueprints or artwork. They've since brought their clean aesthetic to smaller accessories. While I have no architectural plans to carry around, I do like the idea of a slim leather sleeve to hold my passport and travel documents. ($70) – Becky
Quay Fleur Sunglasses
Wherever I go, I always have a pair of sunglasses on me, but I'm also constantly losing (or breaking) them, so I stopped dropping cash on fancy new pairs a long time ago. This time around, I'm adding a dash of Melbourne style to my visage with seriously cool and reasonably priced Australian brand Quay. I'm particularly digging the geometry of these rose-gold shades. I just hope I can pull them off. ($60) – Kim
Scratch World Map
Traveling has always been a joyous experience for me — an intangible gift that impacts who I am and how I perceive things. I'm in love with this map because it's a beautiful and elegant way to visualize where I've been and where I'm going next. – Helena, editorial intern
Monkey Business Magazine
I just got my hands on the latest translated issue of Monkey Business, a contemporary Tokyo-based literary magazine showcasing some of the country's best emerging and established authors. Volume seven, which hasn't yet hit the online shop, includes stories of neighborhood drama, living with a bunny, and encountering a bodhisattva. Good thing the other six are still up for grabs. (From $10) – Daniel
Hey Handsome Shaving Kit Bag
My impossible-to-shop-for husband, who hates to see labels and logos on his things, has a birthday soon. This Brooklyn-made dopp kit by Owen & Fred is discreet (on the outside) and funny (if you know where to look for it). ($68) – Pavia
