Meet the Filmmaker: Danielle Lurie
Hometown: New York, NY
Occupation: Filmmaker and photographer
Favorite destinations: Any place with turquoise water and a language I can't speak.
Dying to visit: That little tiny island off of Puerto Rico.
Bizarre travel rituals: Chia seeds, Larabars, and my sneakers. Can't leave home without them.
In-flight relaxation regime: I use flights to work so when I get there I can relax.
Always in carry-on: Laptop, comic books (Calvin and Hobbes or Foxtrot), ear plugs, eye mask, vegan snacks, and (lately) Rescue Calm.
Concierge or DIY? A little bit of both please.
See it all or take it easy? See it all. Then take it easy. Then see it all. Then take it easy.
Drive or be driven? Drive.
Travel hero: Laura Harris.
Weirdest thing seen on travels: I don't think I can write this is a public space. But ask Lisa about it.
Best hotel amenity: The razor I always forget.
Everywhere I go, I check out the best running routes, vegetarian restaurants, post offices.
I dream about my meal at Manna in London, and that rice dish I had in Uganda right after filming a documentary in an IDP camp.
When I arrive in a new place, I learn the lay of the land by going for long runs.
I always bring home something handmade by a local.
I travel to meet all my brothers and sisters.
