A small but lovely donation-based museum in town housing a collection of 19th century American art from area residents like Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, Willem de Kooning, Dan Flavin, and Roy Lichtenstein. Water color classes commence in the museum's garden.
When Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner moved out to the Hamptons, their work was immediately influenced by nature.You can tour the former home of the famous American artists and site for Pollock's spontaneous pouring technique (you can see evidence of his "direct" painting method on the floors of the old barn). Students and researchers can access the library archives.
Lifeguards, room for families, great surfing because of the consistent waves, and local snack shack Ditch Witch. The crowds can be slightly ridiculous on summer weekends, and you need to bike or taxi if you don't have a beach permit.
A Tuscan-style villa overlooks lush vineyards and a state-of-the-art winemaking facility. It's our favorite Hamptons winery to do a tasting because of the patio seating and wine flights served with cheese.
