Go Ahead, Bask in Aspen's Limelight
Limelight Hotel Aspen
Aspen, Colorado
Alpine Chic, $$$
Aspen's longtime local favorite hotel close to the slopes — known for its kid-friendly après, low-frills atmosphere, and nightly live music — recently underwent a head-to-toe facelift by Stonehill Taylor, the team behind TWA Hotel and Ace Hotel's New York and Brooklyn properties. Limelight Hotel Aspen's spacious guest rooms and suites now have gas fireplaces, kitchenettes, and modern alpine decor that offers the perfect retreat after early mornings on the slopes or late nights when your favorite DJ makes a surprise appearance at the club. With a new partnership with Eaton Fine Art, the hotel's collection is as well-curated as the nearby Aspen Art Museum, with Robert Rauschenberg and Shepard Fairey pieces casually sprinkled throughout. After winter skiing or a summertime hike, guests can choose to go for a muscle-soothing soak in the outdoor hot tub, a cocktail on one of the two rooftop terraces, or a fresh-out-of-the-oven pizza in the lounge (or all three). And for the little ones? A round of Pac-Man in the tricked out kids-only hangout space.

The Vibe: A high-vibe, high-energy mountain chalet with all of Aspen's ski-hard, party-hard offerings at your doorstep.
Standout Detail: Even if its your first time on the slopes, you're treated like an Olympian. Skier amenities include complimentary access to First Tracks, Aspen Mountain's exclusive early bird hour to ski the freshly groomed runs before the mountain opens to the public. Guests also receive a complimentary lesson on the mountain with a ski or snowboard pro, along with a full-service ski valet to arrange rentals and lockers to keep gear warm and toasty overnight.
This Place Is Perfect For: Fun and active groups of friends and families who want proximity to the ski lifts as well as Aspen's dining, nightlife, and après scene.
Rooms: All 120 rooms and six suites on the property received a top-to-bottom renovation in 2022 with gas fireplaces, kitchenettes (full kitchens in the suites), Smeg fridges, and barn doors opening into the spacious marble bathrooms. Glimmers of silver in the decor tie back to Aspen's famed history as a silver mining mecca.
On Site: Year-round patios, outdoor pool and hot tub, along with ski and boot storage and transportation to the slopes. The adventure concierge can arrange cross-country outings, snowmobiling, and fly fishing and paddle boarding in the summer.
Food + Drink: The Limelight's après scene has been a longtime hidden gem for cheap local brews, wood-fired pizzas, and live music in the large lobby lounge. New this season, Denver based speakeasy Williams & Graham is shaking prohibition-style cocktails at the bar with local Woody Creek spirits. Each morning, a generous breakfast buffet is laid out to help guests fuel-up for a new adventure.

What to Do Nearby
For a town that is comprised of a total of three square miles, Aspen is an endless playground for all types in all seasons. In the winter, take a break from the downhill slopes and rent a pair of cross-country skis and glide to an afternoon lunch or dinner at Pine Creek Cookhouse, a magical lodge at the base of the Elk Mountains that serves Alpine cuisine. The Maroon Bells mountains — allegedly "the most photographed place in America" — are way less crowded in the winter and even more beautiful with snow-covered peaks, accessible by snowmobiles rented by T-Lazy-7 Ranch. No Aspen trip is complete without an epic après ski. The best can be found at ASPENX Beach Club atop Aspen Mountain. ASPENX has partnered with photographer Gray Malin to create a pop-up "beach club" (striped cabanas, chaise lounge chairs, bubbly) in blazing, high-altitude sunshine.
