The Hotelier's Chic Ski Season Picks in Méribel

The world's largest ski area is nestled in the French Alps, and Méribel is at the center, giving nature lovers easy access to hundreds of miles of pistes and picturesque settings. One of those settings is the elegant ski-in-ski-out boutique hotel Le CouCou, a five-star stay with romantic views and retro design touches. Kimberley Cohen, co-founder and artistic director of family-run brand Maisons Pariente, worked closely with French interior architect Pierre Yovanovitch to develop playful, contemporary spaces integrated beautifully with regional design. She's got quite an eye for the colorful, quirky, fun, and unexpected — and that extends to her vacation schedule, too. When you consider a holiday in the area, take along Cohen's handful of local recommendations.

A Spectacular View
My favorite is probably Beefbar, the restaurant on the terrace of Le Coucou. The best view and the best food.

Lovely Boutique
Fusalp Méribel, for stylish ski wear that blends technical performance with elegance.

Best Après-Ski
Méribel has a vibrant après-ski scene, with La Folie Douce Méribel-Courchevel for a lively party atmosphere and Le Rond-Point for its cozy yet festive vibe.

Place to Eat
Le Cépe, a must-visit for its refined cuisine and exceptional mushroom-based dishes. Also, Le Télébar, a cozy, traditional Savoyard experience.

An Exceptional Treatment
The Tata Harper Spa at Le Coucou. The heated indoor-outdoor pool overlooking the snowy valley is breathtaking, and the all-natural treatments are extra effective. Perfect for deep hydration and a revitalized glow.

A beautiful Winter Hike
Snowshoeing from Méribel’s Altiport through the pine forest. A peaceful, magical walk where you might even spot deer along the way.

A Fun Activity with Kids
Igloo building and dog sledding, both unforgettable winter experiences. And of course, bowling, a great indoor option for families.
