All eyes are on California as this season's festival circuit kicks into high gear next weekend at everyone's favorite hippie-and-hipster extravaganza in the Palm Springs desert. The music, the fashion, the celebrities, the food, the parties — it's quite a scene.

THE DIGS: THE DEL MARCOS HOTEL

Famed architect William F. Cody was a key player in shaping Palm Springs' desert modern architecture. The Del Marcos Hotel, his first independent commission designed in 1947, is a desert oasis surrounded by the San Jacinto Mountains and one block from downtown Palm Springs. Your time will most likely be spent jamming at Coachella and scoping the festival scene, but you'll want to carve out a few hours to detox at the hotel's saltwater pool and hiking the nearby trails.
