Behind the Lens With Fathom 24 Best Travel Photographer Bart Pogoda

by Bart Pogoda

All photos by Bart Pogoda.

Photographer and filmmaker Bart Pogoda's images are low-lit and faded, like stills from last night's dream. We're haunted by them and compelled to keep clicking for more. And, by the looks of his online following (and possibly the longest-running photo blog in Poland), it seems like we're not the only ones. Learn more about him by perusing our list of the 24 Best Travel Photographers.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I am photographer, filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, colorist, blogger, traveler, writer — kind of a Renaissance Man of Now. Base doesn't mean anything to me, but right now I am somewhere in central Europe, mostly Warsaw. I love to shoot people, landscapes, fashion videos, and small stories.

How would you describe your photography style?

It's developing, it never stops. I have my style but it's changing, mixing, disappearing, and then its born again. I don't like to be stuck in one particular style and I don't really like to check my old photos. I shoot analog and digital, but right now I am using a Sony A7 system.

What do you love most about photographing on the road?

Weird, out-of-matrix situations. I like instances that distract observers and absurdities that don't fit into the regular landscape.

Where have you been lately?

I just came back from Iceland. I was there for a fashion shoot as a videographer. I had two days free and couldn't resist driving around. I got my car and hit the road.
