Fathom Questionnaire: Olimpia Possati
Occupation: Travel blogger, food and beverage consultant, and events organizer — but most of all a dreamer.
Favorite destinations: Ibiza, Argentina, Sicily, NYC, Lech.
Dying to visit: India, Africa, Chilean Patagonia, Copenhagen.
Bizarre travel rituals: Changing my suitcase a half an hour before leaving for the airport. (Even if I plan in advance, it always happens!)
In-flight relaxation regime: Rigorously aisle seat, a glass of wine, and all the magazines I can carry.
Always in carry-on: Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, Bose noise-cancelling headphones, a pashmina.
Concierge or DIY? DIY. (I spend a lot of time on pre-travel research.) Concierge just for hard-to-get restaurant reservations.
See it all or take it easy? See it all one day and take it easy the next.
Drive or be driven? I love to drive when alone. If with someone, I'm a great navigator!
Weirdest thing seen on travels: A cockroach walking in business class.
My favorite hotel is The Carlyle because it feels like home.
I dream about my meal at Lo Scoglio in Nerano, and my secret tiny fish restaurant on the Dalmatian coast.
Best hotel amenity: Warm (or cold depending on the season) hand towels upon arrival, luxurious bathrobes, organic creams.
Favorite childhood travel memory: Spending a lot of time in grand hotels and feeling like Eloise.
Everywhere I go, I check out the flea, food and local markets, hotel bars, and the massages.
When I arrive in a new place, I learn the lay of the land by walking around.
I always bring home scarves, wine, and every brochure, business card, little piece of paper of any place I visit or captures my attention, and all my to-do lists which can never be completed.
I travel for the fun and for a broader perspective.
