Summer is coming to a close, but we're not letting the season go just yet. We're looking back at summer and planning ahead for fall.
This beautiful map of India and Pakistan showcases traditional embroidery styles by region. – Daniel, editorial assistant
One reason I'm excited for fall: Polar Bear Town, the Smithsonian TV show that follows what happens when 1,000 polar bears migrate through Churchill, Manitoba, a Northern frontier town on Canada's Hudson Bay. – Jeralyn, editorial director
Before summer is officially over, I want to check out Unclebrother, a new restaurant and art gallery located in a former car dealership in the Catskills. – Daniel
Next week, Jearlyn and I head to Marrakech for the PURE travel show. First, I'm going hiking in the Ourika Valley (ancient pathways! seven waterfalls! a Berber eco museum!) and staying at Kasbah Bab Ourika. The trip was arranged by Michael Diamond of Cobblestone Private Travel, who has been brilliant to work with. – Pavia, CEO
I'm looking forward to spending many a fall evening watching the new Facebook video series from Humans of New York, which airs every Tuesday and features footage from 1,200 interviews with folks from around the world taken over the course of four years. Watch the first episode below. – Daniel
THIS WEEK ON FATHOM
All eyes were on the devastation in Houston, and we found ways to help. We learned how to drink coffee in Jordan. And where to drink cocktails in Paris. Then we ordered vitamins. (Detox, retox.) We found out where to shop and sleep in Marrakech. And, as ever, explored our own backyard in NYC. (You don't have to get on a plane to travel.)
Travel Loot: Travel-friendly vitamins delivered to your door.
Jordan: How to drink coffee like a Bedouin.
Marrakech: A designer's guide to the city's chicest shops.
Travel Loot: Stylish cycling accessories to upgrade your commute.
