Bizarre travel rituals: Nude swimming in oceans, lakes, and streams.

In-flight relaxation regime: Listening to jazz and sleeping. Or working nonstop on my laptop. Sometimes flying allows me to be very productive because there is nothing better to do. Always isle seat.

Always in carry-on: Everything for the trip. I NEVER check any bags. I just travel light. My bag usually consists of two-thirds cameras, equipment, and film; one-third clothing.

Concierge or DIY? DIY for the most part.

See it all or take it easy? See it all.

Drive or be driven? Be driven. I like to be hanging out the window with my cameras. I fear that I will miss too much by focusing on the driving.

Travel hero: My grandfather (a.k.a. Bumps), WWII hero and train jumper from the age of ten.

Weirdest thing seen on travels: Some things I just can't mention here.

Best hotel amenities: Galle Face Hotel (Sri Lanka), Soho House (NYC)

I dream about my meal at Slow Club in SF. Amazing.

Everywhere I go, I check out the local culture, bars, music, restaurants, and any "off the grid" suggestions for a real experience. I try to avoid heavy tourist activities.

When I arrive in a new place, I learn the lay of the land by getting suggestions from friends (preferably that live or have lived in that destination). Also: public transport, walking around, getting lost, and finding my way back.

I always bring home wild memories, bags full of exposed film, and a sunburn.

If I never return to Atlantic City it will be too soon because it's Atlantic City.

I travel for the culture.
