I travel for the Chill

Just Back From: Big Sur

BIG SUR, California – The guest book was chock-full of gems, including tales of alien abductions, marriage proposals, and angry rants about heavy-footed guests stomping around overhead.

Nantucket Essentials

NANTUCKET – White Elephants and Nantucket Reds, chocolate doughnut and clambakes. It's an A to Z of the island where they applaud the sunset and love to paah-ty.

Plying the South Seas

INDONESIA – The next thing I knew, they were climbing palm trees to collect coconuts and slicing off the tops for us to drink the water. I am forever spoiled.

Golfing USA

Scotland in Oregon? Links on Lake Michigan? Ocean breezes in South Carolina? We found the best US golf courses — the ones worth the journey.

Tee Off in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES – Sinatra golfed here, but Mark Whalberg couldn't even get in. We have the best places to bring your putt-putt A-game in southern California.

Tee off in New York City

NEW YORK CITY – Close the deal, escape the city, pretend you're Cole Porter. It's all in an honest day's work in the best golf courses in and around NYC.

Fathom Questionnaire: Peter Kaminsky

If I never return to Caracas, it'll be too soon because being driven around in an SUV by a driver with an Uzi is not my idea of relaxing, but apparently it is necessary.

Just Back From: Tulum

TULUM, Mexico – Watch out for eco hotels. They often have no electricity. That means no phone charger, no Internet, and no fans in the heat of the night.

Just Back From: Bermuda

BERMUDA – The island is covered in tropical plants and brightly painted cottages with white roofs. Lemon yellow, peach, salmon pink — even the churches come in sea-foam green and turquoise.

Just Back From: Thailand

I needed a pink bathing suit. It's all I'll swim in. I tried to get one in NYC, but it turns out pink is a seasonal color. It's year-round for me. Thankfully, they're more sensible in Bangkok.
