Summer means many things around the world, but a few things are constant. Beaches and swimming. Long days and lazy nights. And, of course, barbecue. Every culture around the world enjoys grilling meats and gathering around a glowing fire. (Go, caveman brain!) In celebration of the American July 4th holiday, we're taking a global tour and following the smoke signals around the world.

LECHÓN - Philippines

The Scene: Lechón is the Filipino national dish, the centerpiece for every celebration, from birthdays to baptisms to weddings.

The Meal: A whole pig slowly roasted on a spit over hot coals.
