THE HAMPTONS – As the weather heats up, and long weekends in the Hamptons commence, two words come to mind: Lobster. Roll. We've combed through the best on the East End for your summering pleasure. Get your wallets out and start salivating.


The Lobster Roll/Lunch

The classic lunch spot is the place to ease a grumbling stomach along Montauk Highway. The inviting Americana decor and packed parking lot can be spotted a mile away. Everyone seems to be a fan, including the discriminating, whose choosy writers insist this roll is a major player in the Hamptons food scene, drooling over its mounds of lobster meat and generously buttered buns.

Silver's Restaurant

Of course the classiest lobster roll is served in a Parisian-inspired bistro setting. It even tastes expensive: A crisp, buttery bun barely contains the big hunks of sweet, fresh-caught meat and celery crunch. Goes best with slender, salty fries smattered with parsley.

Duryea's Lobster Deck

This local instution proudly uses paper plates, has out-of-this-world sunsets, and caters to throngs of bathing suit-clad customers. Brad Ford of Hamptons Cottages & Gardens confirms that this version is completely addictive. Thrilling for the taste buds, not so much for the swimsuit figure.

Bostwick's Chowder House

Hamptons expert and Long Island Pulse writer Richard Scholem claims this roll is "the heaviest, biggest, and best of its breed on the East End." Its overflowing filling on top a soft bun makes for die-hard customers.

The Seafood Shop

If you're looking for seriously luxurious takeout, this is the place. Inside sources from The Seafood Shop tell us that fresh lobsters (cooked to order in small batches) and fine Dijon mustard are the key to maximizing deliciousness.
