Where to Go from NYC: Montauk
In recent years it's gone from laid-back to design-forward, but the salty fisherman's village still has a lot of heart. New hotels and hangouts have encouraged throngs of city slickers to make the trek out to the eastern tip of Long Island. Surfing and deep-sea fishing (for big-catch like tuna and shark) is the best around.
This is just a list of quick hits. For descriptions and additional advice, see our guide to The Hamptons.
