Fathom contributor and Italian-based food writer Katie Parla has called Rome home for more than a dozen years, and has been tippling in the capital for longer than that. Inspired by her mouthwatering Instagram feed of pizza, pasta, and vino, we asked her to do a #FathomTakeover of the Eternal City's best places for grabbing a drink.

ROME – After obsessing over Rome on a high school Latin field trip, I made the permanent move in 2003. I spend most of my time writing about food and drink in Rome and Istanbul (it was called "New Rome" back in the day, after all, which partly explains my fascination) and leading private culinary tours of my adopted home city. There's never been a better time to drink well in Rome — if you know where to go. Here's a look at my favorite places to sip spirits, cocktails, craft beers, and wine.
